Description
In the morning you will leave the harbour to head toward Volterra, a melting pot of Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance art. Its charm not only lies in its historical patrimony but also in the undefiled surrounding countryside, the age-old tradition of alabaster carving and in the geothermical energy.
During the guided walking tour of the city you will see the “Guarnacci” Etruscan Museum, the Roman theatre and the medieval Piazza dei Priori.
A visit at an alabaster workshop to admire a local artisan to work the Alabaster, a calcareous substance mined in the surrounding area that has been widely used for millennia since the Etruscan craftsmen. You will rejoin your coach and continue the tour to the nearby Larderello town, famous Geothermal Energy area. Here you will visit its Museum to discover the warm hearth of Tuscany and to attend the opening of a geothermal well.
